Mother. Daughter. Sister. Aunt. Clinical Nutritionist and Bachelor qualified teacher living in sunny Brisbane, Australia. Health is my passion and my mission is to educate as many people as possible so the health of our future generations is improved.
I always wanted to work in the field of nutrition but convinced myself I wasn't cut out for it. To cut a long story short, a Bachelor of Secondary Education and a Masters in Public Relations later, I enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional Medicine).
During the degree I fell pregnant and became a mum. I developed Hashimoto's thyroiditis postpartum which drove postnatal depression/anxiety, of which diet was a huge aspect which helped me manage and overcome. We then welcomed a baby girl into the world a couple of years later and I got to experience my second postpartum period. Vastly different to the first, I became incredibly passionate about supporting women in the fourth trimester and beyond.
Research suggests some conditions associated with the postpartum period don't peak until a woman's child is 4-5 years old, and this along with my clinical experience, has shown me that we often lose sight of supporting parents beyond the 6 week postnatal check up. My passion is supporting parents, regardless of how old their children are, to regain their health and prioritise their wellbeing. For symptoms associated with parenthood might be common, but they aren't necessarily normal or need to be accepted as our fate.
Thank you for joining me on this ride, I cannot wait to support you to achieve your health goals!
